〜Symbol of the year 2022 寅年ですけどね〜

A new book or a diary for the new year by Ms. Yukari Ishii comes with a free gift, sort of a written oracle.  Last year’s edition was “Comparing your year 2021 to a kind of fruits, it would be mandarin orange, in other words, it is abundant.”  

To the diary for the year 2022 I bought the other day, a written fortune was attached that says “comparing your year 2022 to a kind of animals, it would be lion, in other words, you will build self-confidence, will be greatly active, will obtain confidence from others, in short, you will move toward the ideal.”  So, this is “being intensely vigorous like a lion”.

石井ゆかりさんの新年用のダイアリーのおまけに彼女のお御籤がついています。去年のおまけは『2021年を果物に例えると蜜柑です。つまり豊かだ』とありました。

先日買った2022年用には『2022年を動物に例えるとライオンだ。つまり自信がついて、偉大な活動をして、人々の信頼を勝ち得る・・・つまり理想に近づく年』だそうです。そこで、獅子奮迅を書きました。

〜Missing 縁起のいい感じなので〜

Cheerio!  Hurray!!

It definitely is an auspicious phrase and at the same time, it sounds like giving out a sense of momentum.  And I am looking for it so I can display it in my entrance for the New Year but without success.  I am wondering if I have thrown it away.

〜Dear friend いつもありがとう〜

I wrote these for a long-time good friend.  She was very considerate of my mother in her late life.  Although many years have passed since we first met, she still sends me seasonal gifts.  These are to express thankfulness to her for those presents and wishing good fortune in the future for both of us, I used votive picture tablets as material.

〜Seasonal phrase 大鹿の角〜

“Antlers of male elks come off” is the seasonal phrase around this time of year.

At first, I thought it sounded rather gloomy.  However, after learning it is for urging the new ones to grow, I found the phrase pleasantly hopeful.

「麋角解」今ぐらいの七十二候の名称で、大鹿の角が落ちてなくなる、という意味らしく、初めは何かしら暗いなと感じましたが、それは、新たな角が生えやすくなるためのものと分かって、希望に満ちたいい語句だと思いました。

I thought I would try copying practice of one of the numerous works my teacher left.  However, I only lost my nerve for I it because of the dynamism of both his lines and his words.  I just can’t create lines just as dynamic as his.

It is cold today and it feels like it is getting colder.  The weather forecast says it will get even colder from tomorrow, which I don’t like.

〜Little tree in my garden 満開〜

Exactly eight years ago, when my father passed away, this sasanqua tree in my garden was in full bloom.  The tree itself is much smaller now as I trimmed it considerably, though.

〜Happy little word game 難を転ずる〜

I wrote three of the flower languages of the plant called nandinas.  I hear there are more, though.

I find the third one very intriguing because it is a phonetic analogy and it somewhat leads up the symbolic phrase of the winter solstice I wrote yesterday.

〜Winter solstice 名前の通り〜

Today falls on the winter solstice or the midwinter and it is naturally a cold day, as the name suggests.  However, the day’s motto is this, “swing from the negative to the positive”.  In other words the world shifts from the negative to the positive today, which should make many people’s lives pleasant.
