〜I remembered something　ある文字〜

This is what came into my mind suddenly, which is that the Chinese character “光 light” appeared many times with interesting and significant happenings in my life as a calligrapher.

The photo shows my work of “garden of light”.  The term was given to me by my favorite astrologist and writer, Ms. Ishii Yukari when I went to her autograph session.  It seemed she got the idea the instant she saw me and wrote the term beside her autograph.

ふと思い出したのですが、書家としての活動の何かしら大事なポイントで「光」という字が何度も出てきました。例えばこれは「光の庭」ですが、大好きな占星術師で作家の石井ゆかりさんのサイン会に行ったとき書いてくださった言葉です。

私を見た瞬間に思いつかれたようで、サインの横に書いてくださいました。

〜Another calendar  別バージョン〜

On the last day of 2021, I posted an image of a calendar for this year.  In the post, I wrote about a “written oracle” attached to a new book by Ishii Yukari, a famous, popular astrologist.  As a matter of fact, the oracle had a word “excellent luck” just as the one you get at shrines.  As “excellent luck” has a superb ring to it, I added this word when I wrote a different version of this year’s calendar.

昨年の最後の日に2022年用のカレンダーの画像を投稿しました。そこには、人気の占星術師、石井ゆかりさんの新刊に付いていた「お神籤」のことを書きました。実は、そのお神籤には「大吉」と添えられていました。ちょうど実際のお神籤のように。大吉はいかにも響きが良くて嬉しい言葉ですので、別の形のカレンダーに書きました。

〜Symbol of the year 2022 寅年ですけどね〜

A new book or a diary for the new year by Ms. Yukari Ishii comes with a free gift, sort of a written oracle.  Last year’s edition was “Comparing your year 2021 to a kind of fruits, it would be mandarin orange, in other words, it is abundant.”  

To the diary for the year 2022 I bought the other day, a written fortune was attached that says “comparing your year 2022 to a kind of animals, it would be lion, in other words, you will build self-confidence, will be greatly active, will obtain confidence from others, in short, you will move toward the ideal.”  So, this is “being intensely vigorous like a lion”.

石井ゆかりさんの新年用のダイアリーのおまけに彼女のお御籤がついています。去年のおまけは『2021年を果物に例えると蜜柑です。つまり豊かだ』とありました。

先日買った2022年用には『2022年を動物に例えるとライオンだ。つまり自信がついて、偉大な活動をして、人々の信頼を勝ち得る・・・つまり理想に近づく年』だそうです。そこで、獅子奮迅を書きました。

This was exhibited in the First Exhibition of Yushokai held in July 2011.

.

For this piece, I quoted a passage from Ms. Yukari Ishii’s blog, which unfortunately she erased completely some time ago.  She is a super popular astrologist and writer and writes on many subjects other than horoscope reading.

.

The passage can be roughly translated…

.

“Misty kind of non-entity that might be going to be a river but forms nothing yet”

.

In those days, I was into using very light colored ink.

Professional calligrapher?

This is one of my pieces exhibited at the first exhibition of Yushokai in July, 2011.

.

I was very much inspired by a book about Zen phrases written by Ms. Yukari Ishii, a well-known and popular astrologist and writer and picked one item from the book as a motif for my calligraphy work.  Being a great fan of hers, I sent her my best work.

.

Then, to my ultimate delight, she posted its photo on her blog on November 11, 2010!!

.

Regrettably, however, one day she stopped writing her blog quite suddenly.

.

And more regrettable at this point is the fact that I had sent her the best one and so what the photo shows is my second best.

Thrilling opportunity ドキドキものです

At the end of last year, I purchased a book of astrology for the year 2017 by Ms. Yukari Ishii (in Japanese) with her predictive phrase, which said “Thrilling opportunity; triumph”.

And, at the moment, this kind of opportunity is actually coming my way, which is making my life so excited and making me so nervous.
