This month I saw many families with beautifully dressed up children in Shimogamo Shrinenear my house. The event of “The Seven-Five-Three Festival”
(a festival for 3-year-old boys and girls, 5-year-old boys and 7-year-old girls), which originally meant to wish for the children’s healthy growth and happiness and set on the November 15th, seems to become more and more important and glamorous. Even for me, my parents dressed me in a kimono and took me to that famous shrine. It was long time ago, but I still have some photos of myself in kimono.
The photos here show the trees of autumn foliage on the shrine’s premise.

It is with pleasure for me to announce that I was allowed to participate in the thirtieth commemorable show of the Postcard Collection. This is my fourth participation in this particularly enjoyable event, which I really would like you to visit.
The first photo shows one of the five kinds of my works that will be shown and a set for the original exhibition, “calligraphy” and “relationship” meaning relationship with others through calligraphy, a beautiful Japanese phrase that I would have never known without my calligraphy experience.

About this time last year, I went and prayed at the grand festival of Izumotaisha Shrine in Shimane Prefecture. However, this year I went to its branch in Kyoto Prefecture for its grand festival.
The written oracle I got there said something like “you must always do good, because the deity is eyeing on you all the time”. During my visit to this shrine, I found things someone left behind in the restrooms of the shrine and the station and I took both of them to proper places. I am sure I must have done the same, even if the deity wasn’t looking at my behavior, though.
The photos are the sky over the torii of the shrine and a lonely sight on my way back.

昨年はこの時期に島根県の出雲大社にお詣りしましたが、今年は京都にある分院の大祭にお詣りしました。
そこでいただいたお神籤には、「神さまはいつでも見ているから善行を心がけよ」といったことが書いてありました。この日使わせてもらったお宮さん内のトイレと駅のトイレに忘れ物がありましたので、どちらも然るべきところに届けましたが、別に神さまが見ていなくてもそうしたと思います。
写真は、このお宮さんの鳥居越しの空と帰り路に見たちょっと寂しい秋の風景です。
