It has been officially “spring” for about two weeks according to the old calendar.  Still, this morning I woke up to find a thin layer of snow.  We enjoy bright sunshine but it is such a cold day.

〜Most precise flower languages 　白いアザレア〜

These white azaleas are from my very important friend who could be called my soul mate.  She meant them for the memory of my late mother.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out the flower languages of white azaleas suit really well to this scene.

〜Also in oneiromancy 白い生き物〜

This is a passage from an ancient Chinese poem which translates roughly, “a white fish (symbol of good fortune) jumped into a boat of a king.  The king was very pleased and ducked down to pick it up.  Then they had a gala to celebrate this good omen.”

Since this one is my new piece, my late mother didn’t see it.  However, I remember she loved this theme with a picture of a silly looking fish.

Moreover, it seems white creatures, such as snakes, tigers, horses and what not maybe considered to be auspicious if they appear in your dreams.

昔の中国の詩の一節です。大体の意味としては、ある王様の舟に白い魚（幸運のシンボル）が飛び込んできて、王様は喜んで身を屈めてそれを手に取り、その後皆で祝宴を開いた、ということだそうです。

これは最近書いたものなので亡母は見ていませんが、このバカバカしい魚の絵を添えたモチーフを気に入ってくれていました。

ついでながら夢占いでは、白い生き物、例えば蛇や虎や馬などが出てくると幸運だと解釈するようです。

〜Another study on light  光の路〜

“Path of light”

This is a follow-up post of my yesterday’s entry.  It is another item sent from a physicist, my acquaintance, about his research on light. 　I learned that bending the path of light by some kind of mechanism could be one of their themes.  If the light’s path had been changed, the light may not reach people’s eyes.  Then, it would be possible that something be invisible, wouldn’t it?

〜Better off without a place  椅子取りゲーム〜

“It may be better not to have your chair here.”

The other day, I wrote about a physicist, an acquaintance of mine, who studies “light”. Then he sent me information on what his researches are about.  It happens that lights play musical chairs!  At first, I instantly felt sorry for the light without its place.  However, the cute illustration attached to the theory shows the kicked-out light apparently will go up to the upper stage where it may find its chair.  After all, I thought, you may be better off without a place here, in this world.  For, the seemingly undesirable situation may urge you to climb to the upper status.

以前光の研究をしている知り合いの物理学者のことを書きましたが、その研究の内容を届けてくれました。光が椅子取りゲームをするのだそうです。一瞬、あぶれてしまった光は可哀想・・・と思いましたが、その記事に添えられた可愛いイラストによると、自分の椅子を見つけられなかった光は一段上に上がって、そこで自分の椅子を見つけるかもしれないそうです。そういうことなら、ここに自分の椅子がない方がいいかもしれないと思いました。

〜Three beautiful things, pt. 2  元ネタ〜

I have always firmly believed that the phrase, “snow, moon, flower”, representing the three beautiful things in nature that I wrote the other day was Japanese origin, however, I found out it was actually a part of a poem by Bai Juyi, a Chinese poet in old times.
