I found a little uncommon-shaped frame.  Then I thought I would choose something beautiful to write.  Simply put, these three things, “snow, moon, flower” are typical “beautiful things in nature”.

〜Quest in natural science  光の世界〜

“Enigma of light”.  I heard from an up-and-coming physicist I know of that a part of his research relates to “light”.  I just wonder what he is trying to unlock concerning “light”.

〜My patronage  有名企業〜

I found this phrase when I visited a web site of a Japanese well-known large-sized business.  It apparently means “What a great virtue terra possesses!  Everything starts life from here”.  If their corporate philosophy stems from this phrase, I believe it was good for me to use their products habitually for decades.

ある日本の有名大企業のサイトに行って見つけた言葉です。「大地の徳は素晴らしい。すべてのものは、ここから生まれる」といった意味らしいです。これが企業名の理念ならば、長年愛用してよかったかなと思います。

〜First day of spring and the year  裏から見ても〜

According to the old lunar calendar, today falls on the first day of spring 立春 or literally “spring season stands up”.  In old times the day did not only mean the beginning of spring but the first day of the year, as well.  Therefore, people valued the phrase, 立春大吉 or “excellent luck on the first day of spring” when praying for the welfare of the people and the society.  As these four characters of the phrase are all bilaterally symmetric, it looks just the same when seen from behind, which I once read, makes the phrase somewhat mysterious.

今日は立春で、これは暦の上での春であり、古くは新年の始まりとされ、この日に人々や社会の幸せを祈るという意味の「立春大吉」が縁起がいいとされます。この四文字は左右対称で、裏から見ても同じように見えるということで、ある種の神秘性が生まれるのだとの説も読んだことがあります。

〜Use of a lipstick  表具屋さんに感謝〜

My late mother looked happy at these unskillful pictures of mine.  Today marks Setsubun, so, one is a kind of a symbol of the day.  And the other expresses New Year Resolution that I posted the other day.  As both of them meant just to show to my late mother, I did them simply and quickly.  Therefore, I used a lipstick to color them.  I am grateful to my paperer because they did such a good work to finish my simple works.

下手な絵でも、亡母は喜んでくれました。今日は節分なのでその象徴となるもの。それから先日投稿した新年の決意を表すもの。どちらも亡母に見せるためにささっと書いたものなので、赤い色は手近にあった口紅で塗りました。それなのにちゃんと仕上げてくださった表具屋さんに感謝しています。

〜Another calendar  別バージョン〜

On the last day of 2021, I posted an image of a calendar for this year.  In the post, I wrote about a “written oracle” attached to a new book by Ishii Yukari, a famous, popular astrologist.  As a matter of fact, the oracle had a word “excellent luck” just as the one you get at shrines.  As “excellent luck” has a superb ring to it, I added this word when I wrote a different version of this year’s calendar.

昨年の最後の日に2022年用のカレンダーの画像を投稿しました。そこには、人気の占星術師、石井ゆかりさんの新刊に付いていた「お神籤」のことを書きました。実は、そのお神籤には「大吉」と添えられていました。ちょうど実際のお神籤のように。大吉はいかにも響きが良くて嬉しい言葉ですので、別の形のカレンダーに書きました。
