〜Three examples　どの星月夜がお好きかな〜

The other day, a graphic designer told me when you receive requests to create a work, you can see how the clients react and judge their likes and dislikes if you prepare three kinds of works.

Now, I am wondering which “very bright starry night” will be chosen by my client, the prajna one, the black cat one or the white fox one.

先日、あるクリエーターさんから、作品の依頼を受けた時には3種類創作して、依頼者に見せて、その反応を見れば、依頼者の好みが判ると教えてもらいました。

そこでちょっと頼まれた「星月夜」を3つ書いてみました。どれを選んでもらえるかしら。般若のか、黒猫のか、白狐のか。

〜Seasonal wordage　水泉動〜

This is the seasonal wording for around five days starting today.  Apparently, it means “Frozen water underground begins to melt and move.  Although the air is still cold, things are beginning to verge on the spring season little by little.”

〜Cute little girl!!　やっと会えました！〜

I have been looking forward to seeing the little girl for long.  Yesterday evening, I finally saw her and found out she is a grown-up cute girl.  I had thought she be more like “a baby”. 

Her name, apparently, comes from the name of a goddess of love and fertility.

長く楽しみにしていました。ゆうべようやく会えたお嬢ちゃんは、思っていたよりもずっとお姉ちゃんになっていました。もっと「赤ちゃん」なのだと思っていましたので。

このお嬢ちゃんのお名前は愛と豊穣の女神に由来しているそうです。

〜Auspicious New Year　大吉祥〜

As it is the beginning of a year, I thought I would write characters that symbolize good luck.  The photo shows my calligraphy, great auspiciousness, on an ema shaped board.  The ema or絵馬 is a wooden plaque offered to deity, often with pictures.

〜Another tradition for the beginning of the new year　さて、七種粥〜

As it is January 7th, I had rice porridge with seven herbs of spring, following a long tradition.  However, it was simple rice porridge with some packed herbs I bought at a grocery store.

“gracious rain, blessed rain, serenity after rainfall”

Since I am a “rain woman” I like these words that I wrote before.  I like them so much I wrote them again, and this time, on a very small umbrella.

Actually, the five days allocated to this phrase is about to end. It apparently means even under the snow pile, the wheat begins to sprout.

〜Another meteor shower　さて、別の流星群〜

I hear the Geminids shooting stars were observed well last month.  But I didn’t like the cold night and didn’t even try to find the falling stars.  This time another meteor show called Quadrantids maybe observed.  However, they say you can’t observe the stars very well in Japan and I still don’t like this cold weather.

It’s a mystery/

先月ふたご座流星群が良く見えたらしいですが、私は寒さに負けていました。そして今度はしぶんぎ座流星群らしいですが、日本ではよく見えないらしいですし、私はやはり寒いのが嫌です。

〜Year of rabbits　さて、書き初め〜

This year is a year of rabbits according to the old Chinese zodiac system.  I chose a term including “翔” or “to jump”, which what people often associate with rabbits for my first calligraphy of the year, a long traditional custom in Japan performed on January 2nd.  I learned this term roughly is a parable meaning a number of sages and brilliant people come flying and concentrate here.
