I have been looking back at my old pieces. I wrote this five or six years ago. Its literal meaning is “Forgetting both” and refers to leaving an either-or-one attitude, which, in other words, separating from both of the two opposite concepts; such as reasonable and unreasonable, right and wrong, beauty and ugliness, love and hate. That is, however, almost impossible.
This work reminds me of my own attempts to pursue absolute individuality that I had at the time. This attempt still remains, though.

このところ自分の古い字を見返しています。これ（両忘）は5〜6年前のもので、二つのことを忘れ去るという意味の禅語で、つまり、是と非、善と悪、美と醜、愛と憎など二つの対立するものの両方から離れるという意味らしいですが、実際にはそんなことはなかなかできません。
この字を見ると、当時の自分が、自分の個性となるものを追求しようとしているということがよく分かります。今もそのままですが。

This post is about my friend’s garden once again and how it produces an abundance of crops. It is believed that Japanese mioga ginger is generally harvested in high summer. According to my friend, however, this year the vegetable-picking season had been a little delayed, and as the photo shows there was such a rich harvest this time of year. As a mioga ginger lover, I wondered the instant I saw this photo how much they would charge if the vegetable were sold at a supermarket.
