〜According to the lunar calendar　実は重陽の節句〜

As today falls on September 9th on the old calendar, or the Double Ninth celebration day, whose symbol is the chrysanthemum, I chose a contemporary haiku composed on the flower as a motif for my calligraphy.

No white flower, neither yellow one/

Chrysanthemums are/

Sheer dark/

〜Such delightful presents　半年前にいただいていました〜

In fact, I received these chocolates about six months ago from a faraway country.  However, I have hesitated to write about them here because the sender seemed to be in a challenging time in her life, and all the news that came from the area where she lives is just so terrible.

The phrase, the seasonal phrase for around five days from today, means the cricket, or collectively insects that symbolize the autumn season, start chirping at the doorways of houses at this time of year.

I hear only Japanese people enjoy insects’ chirping and wonder if that is true.

〜Let it be　秋の禅語〜

I thought I would write a Zen phrase that fits the month of October.  And I found this one, after searching on the net for a while.  It apparently means that results will naturally come, whether they are good or bad.  What you can do is try your best and wait for the conclusions.

Now, I do not have anything to disagree with.  However, I am not sure why the phrase is introduced as the one representing the fall season.

10月という時節に相応しい禅語を書きたいと思って探したらこれが見つかりました。良くても悪くても、結果は自然についてくるという意味らしいです。だから、精一杯頑張って、そのあとはただ静かに待つのがいいらしい。

なるほど・・・ただ解らないのは、何故これが秋に相応しい言葉なのかということです。

〜My old work　好きと思う人、思わない人〜

The character is “beauty”.

I am not sure how many years ago I did this one.  Some people kindly say they like it.  However, I myself do not particularly care for it.  For, it looks just too fixed and it is unlikely that dynamic touch will come from it.

Now, I wonder how I should develop my calligraphy from here.
