Somehow, at times, Japanese people are not happy with my calligraphy.  Therefore, I always hope to have opportunities where people from many other countries get to see my calligraphy.

〜Self-reliance　理想はこれですが〜

Self-reliant way of living.  I am certain that this should be the ideal attitude for living as a person, however, looking back on my life, I just can’t help noticing that in the first part of my life, I totally relied on my parents and even after that, I couldn’t have survived until now without lots of helps from various kinds of people around me.

〜Always there　母が好きだった木〜

There is a maqui tree at the entrance of my house that my late mother loved and treasured.  Someone told me this kind of tree is considered auspicious, which is why my mother valued it.  However, I am really not sure if she knew the trees’ reputation.

うちの玄関先には槙の木が植えてあります。亡母が好きで、大事にしていた木です。「槙は縁起のいい木だからお母さまはお好きだったのよ」と教えてくれた人がいましたが、母がそれを知っていたかどうかは分かりません。

〜Solar term　水始涸〜

This is the seasonal phrase or solar term for about five days starting today, which does not mean that the water in the rice paddies goes dry as you may imagine from the letters, but actually, it means for the preparation of harvesting rice, the farmers drain the paddies around this time of year.

今日から5日間ほどの七十二候で、字面からすると、田んぼの水が涸れてしまうという意味のようですが、実際には稲穂の刈り入れの準備のために、田んぼの水を落とす頃だとの意味のようです。

〜Pleasant season　10月の空〜

Since we are now in the month of October, I hope we will be finally freed from the terrible heat and humidity of the summer season.  Therefore, my calligraphy here is a Zen phrase that depicts viewing the vast, clear autumn sky without a single cloud.

〜Award for excellence　日本画展〜

I went to Kobe to visit a large-scale exhibition of Japanese-style paintings from the general public where a fantastic work by my long-time very good friend and awarded for excellence was displayed.

In that part of Japan, live my important relatives and a treasured friend from my college days.  Naturally, I would love to visit there more often, however, somehow in reality, I only get there once in a while.

高校時代からのとても良い友人が日本画の大きな公募展で優秀賞を獲得されましたので、神戸まで見学に行きました。

Because the moon last night was the harvest moon, the moon tonight is the sixteenth of a lunar month.
I think Japanese people may be fond of this manner of being out of focus quite slightly.

〜Uplifting term　知らない漢字〜

I searched and wrote an uplifting phrase as I did the other day.  Here is the same kind that will make you feel happy, which is fine, but I have never seen either of these Chinese characters.  I even feel like asking them where they have been hiding all this time.
