〜I have always wanted this　才気煥発〜

This four-character idiom says “Talented and quick-witted, and apparently it extends to mean that the brain has been working wonderfully and actively.  And this state of brilliance shines forth one after another without ceasing.”, which is nothing but what I have always wanted.  This piece will be on display at my solo exhibition, so please visit the venue to see it.

この四字熟語が意味するのは、「頭脳の働きがすばらしく活発であること。 次から次へと絶え間なく才気が輝き現れるさま」だそうですが、まさに私がずっと欲しいと思っているものです。この色紙も個展で飾りますので、見に来てください。

〜University cafeteria　満腹〜

Sometimes I eat lunch at the cafeteria of my college.  I even had some dessert on this occasion, and being so full, just walking was somewhat troublesome for me.

〜Here is another smiling face　笑顔で〜

When I asked a very talented young woman what her favorite word was, she instantly answered “Smiling face”.  So, I wrote the word and asked it to be made into a wall scroll.  This one will be displayed at my solo exhibition.

The term means, I learned, that happiness is like clouds that emerge one after another, which, unfortunately, I don’t fully understand.

〜I love Cyndi!　月魄〜

I enjoyed Cyndi Lauper’s concert so much on an evening in April.  It is too bad that this tour was termed “final”.  However, I am truly grateful to her for making me so happy for years.

I learned Cyndi is a nickname for Cynthia, which means the Moon goddess or the spirit of the Moon.  So, I wrote a Japanese word for that, 月魄.

4月のある夕刻、シンディローパーのコンサートを楽しみました。今回のツアーが「ファイナル」と銘打たれていたのが何とも残念ですが、これまで楽しませてもらったことに感謝しています。

シンディーはシンシアの愛称だそうで、シンシアは月の神・月の精といった意味があるようです。そこで、それを意味する「月魄」を書きました。

These three have the same material, a haiku poem by Takahama Kyoshi, the same style of writing, and the same arrangement of letters.  Now, I am not sure what I wanted to do.

〜On a cloth　夢のつづき〜

My piece on a coarse piece of cloth came out suddenly when I cleaned my room, which says “Sequel of a dream starts here”.  I have been wondering if this should be displayed at my exhibition marking my seventieth birthday.
