The solar term for about five days from today is this, which means it is the time when fireflies come out of the grass and begin dancing with the flashing. Apparently, in the old days, people believed fireflies are born out of decayed grass. I am not sure if they were romantic or optimistic.

Because I love hydrangeas, I searched for a poem on the flower as a material for calligraphy and found this. It is a passage from a poem by Bai Juyi, a poet during the Tang dynasty. I learned it means “Although you exist in this world, no one knows you. I will give this name to you.”

紫陽花が好きなので、何か書きたいなと思って探したら、この詩が見つかりました。白居易の詩の一節で、「この世にいるのに誰も知らない。君に紫陽花という名を与える」という意味だそうです。

The phrase actually is “one heart” or “one mind”. Because this is my favorite expression, I often choose this one as material for my creation. Honestly, I am not sure, however, what it actually means. Am I right to think it means “concentration of the mind” or “a mind specifically dedicated to one thing” as the characters show?

Most part of my free time is spent watching international TV series and motion pictures. I have finished seeing all the episodes of an American comedy TV series. It was an amusing and cute series but the storyline made me think of many things. For, the theme was peoples’ good deeds and evil deeds when alive and what happens after death.

I found these little flowers, Clethra barbinervis, at the grocery store I frequent. I think it was my first time to see them. There was a note saying “Please treat the flowers very carefully as they are really delicate”. They look pretty fragile indeed, however, when I looked up the flower language, I found a strong expression, “Bursting emotions”.
Incidentally, I used a silk cloth for this piece.

この小さなお花、つまり姫リョウブは、いつものスーパーで見つけました。初めて見たお花だと思います。「繊細だから丁寧に扱ってください」との注意書きが付いていました。確かにか弱い感じがします。けれども、花言葉を調べたら、「溢れる想い」という強い表現が見つかりました。
ちなみに、これは絹布に書きました。
