I prefer the character “游” to “遊.” For I think 游 is cuter and more stylish. However, after a little research, I found that “游”, a variant character, is associated with a highly cultivated litterateur. The meaning of “litterateur,” I suppose, is people like my calligraphy teacher, who was born in the Meiji era and had received a very high education; engaged in the arts of literature, poetry, calligraphy, and drawing.
