〜In my dream　透明なエレベーター〜

The elevator in my dream had one button without a number.  Wondering what I would do if the elevator took me to a strange place, I pushed that bottom.  I was deeply relieved to find myself on the floor I wanted to reach.  And I thought it was like the TV commercial I often see these days.

夢の中で乗ったエレベータには数字のないボタンがあって、変なところに行ったら嫌だなと思いながらもそれを押すと、ちゃんと行きたい階に着きました。TVのコマーシャルみたいですが。

〜Image of fall season　海の月〜

I found this phrase while searching for a term for the autumn season.  But at first, I just thought, “Is it `jellyfish`?”.  For, the combination of the first two characters, “ocean” and “moon”, means “jellyfish” to Japanese people, probably from the image of the moon drifting under the sea.

Later, however, I found out the two letters mean a bright moon reflecting on the water, and the term roughly means the bright moon shining over the ocean is so clear as if in response to the clear water.

秋らしい語を探していたらこれが見つかりました。初めは「くらげ？」と思っただけでしたが、海に映る美しい月のことだそうです。

それで、全体としては、海上に輝く明月が海水と呼応して澄清であるとの意味だそうです。

〜Ancient characters　どのぐらい前の星座なの〜

How I love ancient characters!  This ancient form of “star”, however, the upper one, always looks like a space alien even though I have seen and written it many times.  These two form the word “asterism”.

The tiny, little, lavender-colored boneset flowers don’t bloom altogether at once, but they open little by little.  A kind neighbor who has cultivated the plant for a long time presented these branches to me.

〜According to the lunar calendar　実は重陽の節句〜

As today falls on September 9th on the old calendar, or the Double Ninth celebration day, whose symbol is the chrysanthemum, I chose a contemporary haiku composed on the flower as a motif for my calligraphy.

No white flower, neither yellow one/

〜Such delightful presents　半年前にいただいていました〜

In fact, I received these chocolates about six months ago from a faraway country.  However, I have hesitated to write about them here because the sender seemed to be in a challenging time in her life, and all the news that came from the area where she lives is just so terrible.
