〜End-of-the-year party haiku　一足だけ残っていたら嫌だ〜

I learned that “a year-end party” can be a seasonal word in the haiku society.  You will find many haiku with this word with just a little searching.  This one, however, is somewhat weird and caught my attention.

The photos show homemade fests by one of my friends who is an excellent cook.

What a mystery/

「忘年会」は季語になっているらしく、探せばたくさんの現代俳句が出てきますが、これはちょっと風変わりで面白いと思いました。

〜Tasty pies　さすがに手作り〜

My special friend treated me to her homemade pies.  She shaped them to look like people’s faces, and they looked somewhat funny.  However, plenty of dried strawberries were inside them, and I appreciated the extravagance and good taste.

友人宅で、手作りのパイをいただきました。人の顔に作ってあってちょっと面白いようにも見えますが、中には乾燥イチゴがたっぷりと入っていて、とても贅沢で美味しかったです。

〜Green-colored sunglasses　世の中が眩しいので〜

I got boxes of baked goods and chocolate from a longtime friend.  I certainly was happy to receive them, but remembering my late father loved chocolate made me even happier.

〜Little girl’s poem　ありがちな後悔〜

One of my longtime friends sent me a text of her little daughter’s poem from her heart. Finding that very intriguing, I wrote it.
Winter vacation
On the table with a heater underneath/
Lots of tangerines and homework/
Oh, how I wish I had had solved the questions/
On the past day that would never come back/
旧い友人が、お嬢ちゃんの心の叫びを送ってきてくれました。面白いなと思ってそれを書きました。

〜Silver lining　雲外蒼天〜

On a video distribution service, I saw a TV drama series that is said to have been extremely popular.  In the drama, a horizontally long frame with this term was displayed in the hall of a public establishment, which was very impressive to me.  I learned it means “Over the rain cloud spreads blue sky”.

大人気だったらしいTVドラマシリーズを配信で観ました。その中で、ある公的な建物内の大広間に飾ってあった扁額にこの語があったのが印象的でした。「雨雲の上には青空が広がっている」という意味のようです。

I took this photo because I was so happy to have pot-roasted noodles, which taste so good in cold weather after a long time.  My calligraphy here is just “noodles”.
