〜Preparation for the trip　お世話になっています〜

As it is now less than one week before my departure to Poznań, Poland, which I visited six years ago, I am getting increasingly excited, but the preparation doesn’t seem to make good progress.

The photo shows my gift to someone who I met in November 2017 there.  Since then, she has continued to give me mental support and sent me charming presents at times.

She highly appraises my calligraphy and has introduced it to a number of celebrities around her.  That is such a blessing for me.

いよいよ6年ぶりのポーランド国ポズナニ市へ旅行の出発まで1週間足らずとなり、気持ちはワクワクしていますが、準備はなかなか捗りません。

写真は、6年前の同じく11月にお目にかかってから、精神的に支えてくださり、ときに気の利いたプレゼントなどを送ってきてくださっている方へのお土産です。

彼女は私の書を評価してくださり、ご自分の周囲の著名な方々に私の書を紹介してくださっています。本当にありがたいことです。

〜Dining with good friends　楽しいとき〜

We are now finally having chilly weather, just commonly expected at this time of year.  A good friend said, “It is much more joyful and relaxing to drink shochu and eat tasty foods at a cozy Japanese-style pub with good friends sharing good chemistry than having tiny but well-arranged pieces of food on a French-style course in a rigidly formal atmosphere.”

ようやくこの時期の寒さを感じるようになってきました。

仲のいい友だちが、「堅苦しい雰囲気の中でちまちましたフランス料理のコースをいただくよりも、気の合う仲間と居酒屋で焼酎を飲んだり、美味しい料理を食べたりする方がずっといい」と言っていました。

〜Famous poem　葡萄美酒〜

It is the first half of a very well-known poem about drinking wine.  Interestingly, it goes perfectly well with the traditionally fixed way of arranging lines, that is, “four letters, three, four, two, one”.

The seasonal term allocated to the five days from today is this, meaning the Earth begins to freeze in the cold wintery air.  It also suggests that in the morning, it frosts, and even frost columns may appear.

〜White little flowers　薔薇との組み合わせ〜

A pink rose and some baby’s breath are at my entrance now.  Actually, I wanted to buy a rose and went to a supermarket flower section, where baby’s breaths came with roses.

今玄関にはピンクの薔薇とかすみ草を飾っています。薔薇が欲しくてスーパーの花売り場を見たら、かすみ草とセットで売っていたからです。

〜Written oracle　これから良くなるらしい〜

When I paid a formal visit to a neighborhood shrine a couple of days ago, I drew my fortune and found the written oracle was “Good luck” and that my fortune would improve.  Because rumor has it that the oracles here seldom say “Good luck” or “Excellent luck”, I was delighted and wrote the oracle in the form of a Chinese poem.

近所のお宮さんで御神籤を引きました。ここでは「吉」や「大吉」はなかなか出ないという評判があるのですが、「吉」でした。運勢はこれから上向くとのことで嬉しかったので、漢詩の形のご神託を書きました。

〜Autumn night walk　立冬は過ぎていますが〜

Although, according to the lunar calendar, it has already been winter for a few days, this old Chinese poem is about walking on a fall night.  It obviously describes “taking a quiet walk thinking of you on a night of fall season”.

Sometimes I meet a couple when I sweep in front of my house early in the morning.  Yesterday morning I met only the husband, who kindly gave me mandarin oranges from their garden.

〜New kind of flower, again　ぷっくりと可愛らしい〜

When I found an unfamiliar kind of flower at a florist again, the Bouvardia, I immediately bought a branch.  The flower petals are full and cute.  I looked for its flower languages and found they are “deep friendship” and others.  Because I am preparing to fly to my important friend I met six years ago, wishing to be closer, it is the best term.

お花屋さんでまたよく知らないお花（ブバリア）を見つけたので、一枝買いました。ふっくらした花びらが可愛らしいです。花言葉を調べると「親交」などが出てきます。今、6年前に知り合った友人に海を超えて会いに行き、更に親交を深めたいと思っているところですので、ぴったりの言葉です。
