〜Oneiromancy　こういう夢〜

I had a dream of a lot of big fish (probably bonitos) swimming around in a swimming pool.  I felt curious and checked some oneiromancy websites to find out the dream was a good one.

Then I remembered my calligraphy work of an ancient Chinese poem that goes “the king became very happy when a white fish jumped onto his boat because that was supposed to be very auspicious”.  The fish in my dream weren’t white, though.

プールで大きな魚（恐らく鰹）がたくさん泳ぎ回っている夢を見ました。ふと気になって夢占いのサイトを見てみると吉夢だそうです。

そこでふと思い出したのが、この「白い魚が舟の中に飛び込んできたので、縁起がいいとして王様が大喜びをした」という私の漢詩の書です。私の夢の中のお魚は白くはありませんでしたが。

〜Seasonal wording　水澤腹堅〜

This is the season words for around five days starting yesterday which means “because of this terribly cold spell, even the mountain runoff freezes”.  Actually, we seem to be hit by a severe cold wave that occurs once in a decade.

〜First snowfall　突然降り出して〜

Although it has been extremely cold this winter, we haven’t had snowfall yet.  However, yesterday evening it started snowing quite suddenly and the snow accumulated pretty quickly.

〜Cube art exhibition　蕨餅屋さんの玄関先〜

It is with a great honor to announce that I am allowed to participate in an event of art pieces smaller than about 30 centimeters (about 12 inches) cube.  This event is taking place in a shopping avenue and in the Kyoto’s cultural center.  The works are displayed at various shops there.  Mine is displayed at the entrance of a bracken-starch dumpling shop (No. 5 shop in the poster).

As the poster says the event will be until February 26.  I would like to ask you to visit the venue and see my work and others’ works.

京都の文化の中心となる地域で開かれている約30センチ立方に収まるアート作品の展示イベントに参加させていただいております。諸作品はある商店街のいろいろのお店に飾られているのですが、私の作品は蕨餅屋さん（ポスター中の5番）の玄関の辺りに置いてもらっています。

〜Flower languages of Lilium maculatum　飾らぬ美だからこそ〜

When I was much younger and was practicing flower arrangement, we students had this kind of flower, the Lilium maculatum very often as a practicing material.  That is why I had thought the flower was so common and uninteresting.  However, now I found its flower language just excellent, as it is “to be high-profile because of its artless, natural beauty”.

〜Chosen piece　結果です〜

I showed the three examples to the client who requested “very bright starry night” the other day.  She chose the “one with the white fox” and I thought she liked its pictorial impression. Thus, for a final piece, I intensified this picturesque image.

〜Made in Japan　君子の振る舞い〜

I happened to find out this aphorism, “A cultured, enlightened person would not go near danger immoderately and keeps away from it” is Japan-made, not Chinese one.  I think that in my case, I must be careful not to approach wicked persons, rather than dangerous situations or places.

「君子危に近寄らず」は日本でできた格言だそうです、中国でなくて。私の場合は、危ない状況でなくて、危なそうな人に近寄らないようにしなくてはと思います。

〜Moth or butterfly?　動きのある素敵な花言葉〜

I suddenly thought of checking the birthday flower and its flower language of today, January 17.

Then I learned the flower is the moth orchid and its flower language is “Happiness comes flying.”  

Japanese name for the flower is “butterfly orchid”.  Whether it is a moth or a butterfly, it will obviously come flying to you.
