〜Intriguing modern haiku　闇はくれなゐ〜

I found this contemporary haiku while searching on the net without any particular purpose.  I found it very interesting that “darkness and vivid scarlet” are in one place in this haiku.

O winter days/

Of the darkness in the heart/

Of the crimson/

〜My calligraphy of three years ago　どれがお好きかな〜

Someone who saw my post about three years ago liked a part of it and requested me to write “Light flows” or 光流れて.  I wrote three kinds of the phrases to search for what kind of calligraphy this potential buyer would like.  Now, I wonder which one would be chosen.

〜Excellent textbook　お見通し〜

Someone who knows my love of calligraphy very kindly sent me an excellent textbook.  However, I was a little shocked when I saw its wrapper.  For, its design is a well-known classic that many people practice copying, which I myself am very fond of, and 7 or 8 years ago, I often practiced it, but I have been quite lazy lately.  I felt like someone oversaw how I practiced and wanted me to be more diligent.

私の書道好きをご存じの方がまたと無いご本を送ってくださいました。実はカバーを見て少々ショックでしたが。というのも、多くの人がお稽古をする有名な古典がデザインされていたからです。私もこれが大好きで7〜8前にはよく習っていたのですが、このところずっとさぼっていたものだったからです。誰かがどこかから見ていて、さぼっていてはいけないと言われたような気がしました。

〜My favorite expression, dream boat　夢を乗せる舟〜

I happened to see this word somewhere.  I found the combination of “dream” and “boat or ship” really attractive.  It definitely is my favorite.

〜Heartwarming gesture on the table　食卓の品格〜

“Kind heart and welcoming gestures are on the table.”

In the faraway country, I felt nobleness and a welcoming heart at the tables they welcomed me.  Not only did they light a romantic candle at the tea before lunchtime, but even at a simple, informal tea, they formally put the dishes for me.

〜Special dessert for the New Year　花びら餅〜

When I was much younger and taking tea ceremony lessons, I was really happy to get to have this sweet on the first practice of the year.  Much later, I learned it was originally a special dessert for the New Year in the imperial court.
