“Earth begins to freeze.”  This is the seasonal wording for five days until today.  Surprisingly enough, it actually is becoming really cold quite suddenly.

〜Last night’s full moon  盛りだくさん〜

They say that the Full Moon last night was originally called “full moon of fertility” and what is more, it was accompanied by the total eclipse of the Moon and even the Uranus eclipse.

The words I wrote are “fertility” and “regeneration”.

〜Period of Hanlu　急に肌寒い〜

About two weeks from today is called Hanlu, 寒露, literally “cold dews”; that is, the season when even dews freeze because of chillness.  I searched autumn-like old Chinese poem and found this one.  It seems cold, indeed.

“Where does the autumn wind blow from?

It blows melancholily and sends the flight of geese away.”

〜Seasonal wording　水始涸〜

This is the seasonal phrase for around five days starting yesterday.  It apparently means “This is about the time people drain water from rice paddies and prepare for harvesting.”  As you see, many of these seasonal terms deeply involve rice cultivation.

I tried to create a little variation to the ink shades on the post the other day and this time I tried to further the same effect.

〜Autumnal Equinox Day　寂しい詩〜

Because today falls on the Autumnal Equinox Day, I searched a Chinese poem for my calligraphic work with this as a keyword and found this one.  Apparently, the poet, Bai Juyi, wrote it in the year his mother passed away.  No wonder it is a sad poem.

Standing alone in the twilight before the hall that enshrines a Buddha statue 

Seeing the fallen Styphnolobium flowers all over the ground
Hearing cicadas chorus filled among the trees

.

Although tonight we are to enjoy the harvest moon, the air still seems a little warmer this year.

This shows a passage from a Chinese poem and a haiku, both of which have subject on full moon.
