I found this term after searching for a Zen phrase suited to this cold time of year. It apparently means that you should check where you stand now, and by extension, it is thought to mean that you should confirm where exactly you are at present. However, I do not know why this should be appropriate for this cold season.

この寒い時期の禅語を探したら、これが見つかりました。文字通りには足元を見るようにとの意味で、そこから今の自分を振り返って現在地を確かめなさいとの意味で、転じて、自分の現在地を確認しなさいとの意味らしいですが、これがこの時期の禅語とされる意味は分かりません。

In a faraway foreign country, I made an enormous request and was allowed to deliver a calligraphy performance. Therefore, I thought I had to do my best to entertain the audience and thought it would be interesting to show them how to tuck up kimono sleeves with a sash. So, I practiced it by checking YouTube videos before traveling but failed to do it in a cool manner. I think this is the first time I’ve written a character for this kind of sash.

Because the high-profile vegan ramen shop is quite near the supermarket I frequent, I have been curious about it for some time. However, I usually have difficulty going into a restaurant alone for the first time. But the other day, I finally had a bowl of ramen there and found it pretty tasty but not spicy enough for me.
