〜Seasonal words　蒙霧升降〜

This is the solar term for the five-day-period starting today, meaning “dense fog is around.”  Elaborating it is “this is about the time when dense fog tends to form due to coolness in the morning and evening.”  We don’t have foggy weather very often, but I do hope we will have cool mornings and evenings.

〜Piece of my father’s memory　古本市〜

〜Some things never change　ある禅語〜

I found this Zen term when I looked for one suitable for this season.  Apparently, it means “although white clouds come into the world one after another and change their shapes and places constantly, the mountain remains the same.”

In other words, it means “some things never change” and I gave a big nod to the theory.

One of my friend’s favorite character is “健” or “健やか, healthy”, that is, being healthy both mentally and physically.  That certainly is something very important.

〜Silly fighting　ツノ出せ、ヤリ出せ〜

I happened to find this passage that means “For what purpose do people fight on a small place like horns of a snail?”  Apparently, it refers to fighting over pointless, small matters from a broader perspective.

This idea must be meaningful.  Still, sometimes seeing through a position of people actually involved, you can’t make comments so lightly.

Remembering variety of events that happened when I was young, I can’t help thinking like the above.

「蝸牛角上争何事」ふと見つけた一節です。

「かたつむりの角のような小さな狭い場所で、（人々は）いったい何を争っているのか」という意味で、大局から見ると意味のないような小さい事柄で争うことを言うようですが、実際に関わっている人からすれば、時としてことはそんなに簡単ではない。

若い頃のことを思い出すと尚更そう考えるのです。
