〜Ancient forms of letters　虹の向こうは・・・〜

I am very interested in the original or nearly original forms of Chinese characters that are supposed to have been used in ancient times.  The work shows 虹 or a character for “rainbow” used today and what is written in pale ink is one of its ancient forms.

However, I am afraid this idea may not be very interesting to those who are not familiar with the Chinese characters used today.

漢字のもとの形、つまり古代文字とされる古い漢字がとても面白いと思います。これは、「虹」の現在使われている形と昔の文字（薄墨）です。

けれども、そもそも現在使われている漢字をよく知らない人々にとっては、こんなことは面白くないのかも知れません。

〜The Jodo-Shin Sect　大きなイベント〜

As this year marks a major milestone for this Buddhist sect called “the True Pure Land Buddhism”, many events are being held.  Very fortunately invited by the chief priest of the temple my family belongs to, I participated in one of them.

They say people in the world can be divided into two types:  those who want to classify people and those who don’t do this.  Incidentally, are you a sea person or a mountain person?

〜Novelty　新月なので〜

The letter is “new”.  I chose this letter just because it is the time of the New Moon in the Aries.  It makes you excited at the anticipation that something new is happening.

〜First rainbow of the year　七十二候〜

The solar term for the five days with today as the middle day is “first rainbow of the year is seen”.  Seeing a rainbow is usually supposed to predict good luck.  However, the system implies rainbows don’t appear in cold weather.

〜Related to the Imperial Family　既に新緑〜

In the bus tour I took the other day, we were supposed to enjoy blossoms on a tree that is said to be 650 years old in the famous temple related to the Imperial Family.  However, the flowers have already fallen and the tree was full of fresh green leaves.
