When I was younger and taking ikebana lessons, we often used Thunberg lilies as the material. I heard it was because the florist who worked for our teacher thought he would be very sorry if the flowers for the lessons were pricey. Are the flowers still affordable?

Just out of curiosity, I looked up the Chinese word for avocado that my late father loved. And I found out it was written “alligator fruit.” Incidentally, he loved to have it dipped in soy sauce seasoned with grated wasabi or Japanese horseradish.

I found this idiom very amusing and wrote it. It says, “Kites fly in the sky freely and fish move vigorously in the river”. In other words, it means all living things live freely and enjoyably, following their natural characteristics. And it extends to suggest that the world is peaceful under good governance. 楽しそうな四字熟語だなと思って書きました。空では鳶が飛び回り、川では魚が踊っている。つまり、すべての生き物が自らの自然な性質に従って自由に楽しく生きるという意味で、更にそこから、良い統治のもとでは世界は平和であるという意味になるそうですが、地上の人間にはあまり当てはまらなそうです。
