After I mentioned I was feeling a little under the weather, a longtime friend immediately came over with tempura, dengaku, and several other foods, including simmered dishes and rice cooked with different ingredients.  What you need in life is a friend who is an excellent cook.

This post is about my friend’s garden once again and how it produces an abundance of crops.  It is believed that Japanese mioga ginger is generally harvested in high summer.  According to my friend, however, this year the vegetable-picking season had been a little delayed, and as the photo shows there was such a rich harvest this time of year.  As a mioga ginger lover, I wondered the instant I saw this photo how much they would charge if the vegetable were sold at a supermarket.
