Today is August 1st, which is 八朔 in an olden word. This word of 八朔 is also a name for a kind of citrus fruit for this season that happens to be my very favorite. And on top of that, I got a beer with 八朔 flavor as a gift.

I have learned that pebbles are laid on the approaches and grounds of shrines because the noise they make when worshippers walk purifies the scene. However, I think, as this haiku suggests, the noise makes people feel even hotter.
