〜Autumnal Equinox Day　寂しい詩〜

Because today falls on the Autumnal Equinox Day, I searched a Chinese poem for my calligraphic work with this as a keyword and found this one.  Apparently, the poet, Bai Juyi, wrote it in the year his mother passed away.  No wonder it is a sad poem.

Standing alone in the twilight before the hall that enshrines a Buddha statue 

Seeing the fallen Styphnolobium flowers all over the ground
Hearing cicadas chorus filled among the trees

.

Fierce discharge of emotions almost always means “rage”.  I wish to feel people’s love or tenderness that might be expressed as “intense”.

〜“Smile”, once again　3度目の「笑」〜

When I was organizing data of my past calligraphy works, this letter “笑, smile or laugh” caught my attention once again.  And I realized once again how I myself love this character. However, only the latest one out of the three that I uploaded here remains with me.  I know I should feel happy to see my works to go and belong to others, though.

〜Four virtues　「清」だけでなくて〜

I did the letter “清 or purity” yesterday following a request from a friend who is fond of this character.  Then, I found a term that expresses four human virtues with this purity as the first one; that is, purity, brightness, righteousness and genuineness.

〜Song of insects　これがもっと増えればいいです〜

Insects’ chirping, another symbol of the fall season, has been heard for some weeks in the evening and very early morning.  I do hope we will be hearing it more soon.

This term, “wagtails sing” evokes a clear birds’ songs.  The period of five days for this term ends today.

〜My favorite “Journey”　誰かに頼まれた今の作品〜

This is my favorite piece of “Journey” or “Trip” I wrote by someone’s request.  

Lately, I am often get caught up in my thoughts about where those people go after passing away.  It is just because people use the terms “leave” or “set out on a journey” euphemistically when they mean “die”.

This is my favorite piece of “Smile” or “Laugh” I wrote by someone’s request and that I found while organizing data of my calligraphic works.  Lately, it is becoming more and more difficult to smile or laugh without worrying varying things, though.

〜Add and increase　この字が好き〜

A friend of mine said she likes this “加” or “to add”.  According to this young woman she likes it because it has a positive image of adding, increasing and making something good and favorable larger and larger.

As I wanted a little twist to the work, I wrote the letter both in present day form and old form.
