Today falls on “hangesho” or 半夏生 this year, which is usually July 2^nd.  The day used to be allocated on the 11th day counting from the summer solstice, but now it is decided on the day when the sun passes the point of 100 degrees of celestial longitude on the celestial sphere.

7月2日になることが多い半夏生は今年は今日だそうです。また、かつては夏至から数えて11日目とされていたようですが、現在では天球上の黄経100度の点を太陽が通過する日となっているらしいです。
