〜Moon poem　百人一首の短歌〜

This tanka poem (traditional form of Japanese poetry composed of 31 syllables) is included in the classical Japanese anthology of one hundred Japanese tanka by one hundred poets.  It is about someone who disappeared in a flash after re-encountering, compared to the moon that appears in the night sky but vanishes into the clouds at once.

I wrote a tanka poem by the famous tanka poet, Yosano Akiko.  It contains elements that make people recall fall scenes, such as the fall sky, cold water, sadness, and the fall moon.

〜Your “original” paper fan　楽しい作業〜

I was luckily allowed to participate in an annual event where many workshops are held in a city to spread its culture.  I attended a seminar sponsored by a paperhanger shop with a long history <https://kobaido.main.jp>.  I chose this one because, as a calligrapher, I have always been interested in the work of paperhangers.  This year, we participants enjoyed decorating a round fan with many pieces of fabric used for paperhanger jobs.

After getting home, I wrote one tanka poem about paper fans on the front of the fan and two haiku poems of the same kind on its back.

毎年恒例の、ある街の文化を広めるためのイベントに参加させてもらいました。ここではたくさんのワークショップが開かれるのですが、長い歴史を誇る表具屋さん<https://kobaido.main.jp/>のワークショップに参加しました。私は書家なので、表具屋さんのお仕事に興味があるからです。今年は表具に使われるお裂地で団扇を飾るという作業をしました。

帰宅後、団扇の表側に、団扇を謳った短歌を一首書き、裏面に同じく団扇の俳句を二句書きました。
