There was a request for me to write “絆” or bonds between people. The person obviously is thinking of relationships between family members, especially that of mother and daughter. I myself now have my calligraphy because of my late mother’s influence and have been organizing a calligraphy exhibition of her calligraphy and mine at the end of this month.

I would like as many people as possible to see my late
mother’ calligraphy, as well as my own.
This whole event is to express my greatest gratitude to my late
mother who let me practice calligraphy for many years under a
distinguished calligraphy.
Incidentally, I asked a graphic designer/illustrator, いとおと, who I met by a happy chance to design this postcard. And I am really delighted that I entrusted her to do this job.

I haven’t been feeling at ease these several months, maybe because I have been trying to organize a big event, even though things seem to be working smoothly.
I don’t remember when I did this piece. But one thing for sure is I drew this picture trying to imitate a model because I am helplessly poor at drawing. Now I only wish I were as carefree and light-hearted as this guy.

About two weeks from today is called Hanlu, 寒露, literally “cold dews”; that is, the season when even dews freeze because of chillness. I searched autumn-like old Chinese poem and found this one. It seems cold, indeed.
“Where does the autumn wind blow from?
It blows melancholily and sends the flight of geese away.”

Although this isn’t the season for the flower, just because I wrote about one letter in the name of the flower, field mustard, that is often used in girls’ names. And thus, I wrote its flower language as well, which is “cheerfulness” or “flow of spirits” and which come from the flowers’ image of the yellow fields that appear when spring comes.

This is the seasonal phrase for around five days starting yesterday. It apparently means “This is about the time people drain water from rice paddies and prepare for harvesting.” As you see, many of these seasonal terms deeply involve rice cultivation.
I tried to create a little variation to the ink shades on the post the other day and this time I tried to further the same effect.
