子供さんを教えるときにはこういう点に気をつけるように、というようなアドバイスをよくもらいます。けれども、私は子供を教えるのは怖すぎて嫌です。もしも教えることを再開するなら、若いお嬢さんたちとちょっと気の利いた可愛らしい作品を創るのがいいです。

実は２年以上前に、平岡八幡宮で「湧書会大成功」の願を掛けて来ましたが、まだお礼参りに行っていませんでした。それは、何かしら欲張りになってしまって、まだ「大」成功ではないから、「大」成功だと感じたら行こうと思っていたからです。

けれども今年の初め頃ふと気づいたのは、５０年以上もの間お稽古を続けていられるというだけで、これはもう「大」成功なのではないか、またその上に、願ってもないいい先生お二人から直接に丁寧なご指導をいただいているのだから、これはもう大成功どころではない、ということでした。

それで今日ようやくお礼参りに行って来ました。

More than two years ago, I went to Hiraoka-Hachiman-Gu Shrine (in Japanese) to wish for Yushokai’s great success.　But so far I haven’t been there again to show my gratitude.　For, I have been wanting a lot and haven’t considered my current situation to be a “great” success yet.

However, around the turn of the year I suddenly got the idea that only continuing calligraphy practice for more than fifty years can be called a “great” success and on top of that I was so fortunate to be taught by two excellent teachers directly and at advanced level.

And I paid a visit of thanks to the shrine today.

ヨガの先生にも指摘されたことがあるのですが、私はどうも呼吸が浅い、という傾向があるのですね。人間が怒りっぽいからかな。やはり「怒り」は良くないのですね。何よりも書のために良くない。

Once a yoga instructor pointed out that I tend to breath shallowly.　I wonder if it is because I get offended easily.　After all, “angriness” isn’t good, especially for the good of calligraphy.
