The tiny, little, lavender-colored boneset flowers don’t bloom altogether at once, but they open little by little.  A kind neighbor who has cultivated the plant for a long time presented these branches to me.

〜According to the lunar calendar　実は重陽の節句〜

As today falls on September 9th on the old calendar, or the Double Ninth celebration day, whose symbol is the chrysanthemum, I chose a contemporary haiku composed on the flower as a motif for my calligraphy.

No white flower, neither yellow one/

〜Such delightful presents　半年前にいただいていました〜

In fact, I received these chocolates about six months ago from a faraway country.  However, I have hesitated to write about them here because the sender seemed to be in a challenging time in her life, and all the news that came from the area where she lives is just so terrible.

〜Red spider lily　魅力的な華〜

This kind of flower attracts my heart because they look gorgeous but at the same time, they seem fragile and fleeting.  When I finally began wondering if they were not blooming this year, they began opening here and there quite suddenly altogether.  And soon they go withered.

The other day, when I arrived at my friend’s house very tiredly, she offered me some chocolate quite unexpectedly.  I truly felt happy and delighted.

〜Always there　母が好きだった木〜

There is a maqui tree at the entrance of my house that my late mother loved and treasured.  Someone told me this kind of tree is considered auspicious, which is why my mother valued it.  However, I am really not sure if she knew the trees’ reputation.

〜Award for excellence　日本画展〜

I went to Kobe to visit a large-scale exhibition of Japanese-style paintings from the general public where a fantastic work by my long-time very good friend and awarded for excellence was displayed.

In that part of Japan, live my important relatives and a treasured friend from my college days.  Naturally, I would love to visit there more often, however, somehow in reality, I only get there once in a while.
