A good friend of mine, her elementary school girl and I went to the Kanji (Chinese character) Museum.  We had a lot more fun than we expected.  I have always taken a great interest in how Chinese characters and characters in general were born and developed, such as hieroglyphs and other ancient letters.  The museum provides not only various displays but games and quizzes that both adults and children enjoy tremendously.

知り合いと、小学生になるそのお嬢さんと一緒に漢字ミュージアムを見学しました。期待をはるかに超えて、大変面白い博物館でした。私は以前から、象形文字など漢字や文字自体の生まれ・成り立ちに大いに興味がありましたし、この博物館には、さまざまの展示があるだけでなくて、ゲームやクイズなど大人も子供も楽しめる仕掛けがたくさんありました。

One of my good friends is a photographer.  She says she takes people’s portraits to be used for their funerals and memorial services afterward.  I have been thinking about when and how I should ask her to take my photo.  Many things come to my mind, such as whether I should wear the sweater my late mother used to love.

My neighbor, a very good gardener, grows many kinds of beautiful flowers and several fruit trees.  She says these grapes are for making wine.  When she let me taste some, I was surprised they tasted really sweet.
