One day

a demon, jealous of the Buddha’s powerful spiritual energy, threw a massive boulder at him.

When the boulder missed the Buddha’s body and shattered into pieces, only one fragment struck his toe.

It is said that the Buddha’s blood, which flowed from that wound, seeped into the earth,

and a red canna flower bloomed from that spot.

Then, the demon is said to have been swallowed up by a crack in the ground after having provoked the earth’s wrath.

ある日

仏陀の強い霊力を妬んだ悪魔が仏陀に向かって大岩を投げ落としました

大岩は仏陀の体に当たらず粉々になって一片だけが足の指に当たりました

その傷から流れた仏陀の血は大地に染み込み

そこから赤いカンナが咲いたといいます

悪魔は大地の怒りに触れて地の裂け目に飲み込まれてしまったそうです
