〜July full moon　角の種類〜

According to the Native American tradition, the full moon this month is called “buck moon”.  For, this is about time when horns of bucks that were regrew in spring begin to have antlers.  Thanks to this, I learned the words and the difference between “horn” and “antler(s)”.

ネイティブアメリカンの伝統では、今月の満月は「バック（雄鹿）の月」だそうです。これは、雄鹿の春頃に生え変わった角が7月頃になると枝角が生えてくるからということだそうです。

私はこれによって、真性のツノhornと枝角antler(s)という2語とその違いを覚えました。

〜Summer symbol　夏は雲〜

As it is already July, I searched for Chinese poems and Zen phrases connected with the month.  Then I found surprisingly large number of them containing “clouds”.  Here is one of them that means “in summer we can see numerous clouds of different forms”.

もう7月なので、7月に因んだ漢詩や禅語を探してみると、「雲」が含まれているものが驚くほど多いです。「夏にはいろんな形の雲がたくさん見られる」とのこと。
