There is a maqui tree at the entrance of my house that my late mother loved and treasured.  Someone told me this kind of tree is considered auspicious, which is why my mother valued it.  However, I am really not sure if she knew the trees’ reputation.

うちの玄関先には槙の木が植えてあります。亡母が好きで、大事にしていた木です。「槙は縁起のいい木だからお母さまはお好きだったのよ」と教えてくれた人がいましたが、母がそれを知っていたかどうかは分かりません。
