I hear the Geminids shooting stars were observed well last month. But I didn’t like the cold night and didn’t even try to find the falling stars. This time another meteor show called Quadrantids maybe observed. However, they say you can’t observe the stars very well in Japan and I still don’t like this cold weather.
This year is a year of rabbits according to the old Chinese zodiac system. I chose a term including “翔” or “to jump”, which what people often associate with rabbits for my first calligraphy of the year, a long traditional custom in Japan performed on January 2nd. I learned this term roughly is a parable meaning a number of sages and brilliant people come flying and concentrate here.
The designer of the announcement leaflet of the Mother-Daughter exhibition held a while ago showed me three kinds of drafts at first. According to this artist, if you show THREE, you can guess likes and dislikes of your client. However, only TWO would be just comparison or relative merits, was what she added.
This comment made a considerable sense to me. Then I decided I would follow this method at someone’s requests for my calligraphic works of any kind when they read my comment I always write at the end of every post, “Requests for Chio’s calligraphy are accepted…”.
It has already been five years since I visited Poznań, Poland and was allowed to participate in a calligraphy exhibition, being very worried about my mother who must be waiting for me in an institute for the elderly. I got precious friends there who have been giving me warm and strong friendship even now, which is something like a “dream friendship” without a sense of reality.
