〜Four-character idiom　明朗闊達〜

“Writing four-character idioms on thick pieces of paper for calligraphy” must have been my main focus for this year.  However, it has passed well over half of the year.

I would like to begin with a bright idea, and so this one expresses a laid-back and cheerful personality that adheres to nothing.

「色紙に四字熟語」というのが、今年の目標だったはずなのですが、もう軽く半分以上過ぎてしまっています。けれども、まずは明るいトーンの言葉を書きました。明るくて朗らかで、こだわりがなくおおらか。

The term expresses something so textbook-perfect, I followed an exemplary way of calligraphy for writing four-character idioms, including how and when to add ink.

〜Clear calm mind　明鏡止水〜

This four-character idiom apparently means a clear and calm mind, free from evil thoughts.  At first, I practiced it on a long sheet of paper, and then I wrote it on a round sheet of paper.  I had it framed.  It is displayed at my exhibition.  I hope you will visit the venue to see it.

〜I have always wanted this　才気煥発〜

This four-character idiom says “Talented and quick-witted, and apparently it extends to mean that the brain has been working wonderfully and actively.  And this state of brilliance shines forth one after another without ceasing.”, which is nothing but what I have always wanted.  This piece will be on display at my solo exhibition, so please visit the venue to see it.

〜Praise the darkness 　陰翳礼讃〜

I enjoyed an exhibition of the art of the tea ceremony very much, which is symbolized by this term, suggesting the idea unique to the Japanese culture, expressing the praise of dark parts with very little light.
