Although the anniversary of my calligraphy teacher’s death was nearly a week ago, I still feel like practicing with the examples he left behind.

I think this is a typical summery haiku that not only conveys a sense of living nature but also captures the feeling of enjoying summer; in other words, you feel the sense of openness and innocence like a child.

Stepping into water/

And drying my feet on the grass/

Oh, a summer meadow/

＜水ふんで草で足拭く夏野かな＞

お命日は１週間近く前に過ぎましたが、やはり先生が遺してくださったお手本で稽古します。

生きた自然が感じられる上に、夏を楽しんでいる、開放感や子どものような無邪気さが感じられる夏らしい句だと思います。
