I love taking calligraphy lessons! お稽古、楽しい!

Today’s task was to write a message for myself ten years after ten years after. I just want to see myself in the future living a carefree life laughing.

今日の課題は、10年後の自分へのメッセージでした。ただ、心楽しく笑っていられる日々だったらいいなあと思いました。

Yesterday’s task was to draw a picture of Kintaro, ((childhood name of late-Heian warrior Sakata no Kintoki) Kintaro was a hero boy of Japanese folklore, who befriended animals and had supernatural strength), a symbol for the “Children’s Day” (a national holiday in Japan when people pray for the health and happiness of children), and write some phrases defining the event. It seems it was a great pleasure for the literateurs to collaborate with others; a person drawing pictures and others improvising words and phrases for the picture instantly.

昨日の課題は、『こどもの日』を象徴する金太郎さんを描いて、それに相応しい字を添える、というものでした。普通なら、誰かが絵を描いて、別の人がその絵に合う、その絵を褒めるような、讃えるような言葉を添える、というのが文人の優雅な遊びらしいです。

Is the Mercury’s retrogression an answer? 昔の作品

The photo shows my works from long time ago. I can’t even remember when I wrote them. These days I often withdraw these old ones. I wonder if it is a kind of effects from the Mercury’s retrogression. The motif is from a children’s song about fireflies.

The phrase is from the solar terms for the days around April 5, meaning “swallows come and fly around firstly”. However, I haven’t seen any swallows yet. Or maybe it is just that I am too careless to notice their being around.
