These photos are full of sweet memories. They are from the Mother-Daughter exhibition held in fall 2022. The first one shows my mother’s calligraphy on thick paper, and the second one shows my mother’s works again and her father’s calligraphy of the list of auspicious betrothal gifts from him to my grandpa on my father’s side.

It is still too hot for me to be practicing calligraphy hard. I have only been remembering a variety of things about the Mother-Daughter exhibition held last fall. The best thing about the it was more people than I had expected came to the venue and saw my mother’s calligraphy.
I am very well aware that it is high time now for me to be trying very hard at calligraphy practice, rather than remembering about the past, though.
This is my own tanka I wrote when I was busy looking after my late mother. When I was looking at this piece, I decided to hold the Mother-Daughter exhibition held a while ago.
I wrote “Sequel to my dream starts here, now” on a cloth towel of high quality that one of the visitors at the Mother-daughter exhibition presented me. However, maybe this method of using isn’t proper, I wonder.

The number of visitors at the Mother-daughter exhibition held some time ago exceeded my expectation, which gave me deep delight. However, it took me so long to write about seventy thank-you notes. This year has been one of the most important ones for my life.

One of the visitors at the Mother-daughter exhibition at the end of last week brought flowers for my late mother. My mother passed away in February.

The exhibition closed successfully yesterday. I was so happy to welcome more visitors than I had expected. I am now wondering if my mother was this popular among people around her. I am thankful to enjoy so much well-wishing for my late mother and myself in various kinds. Also, I am grateful to those who couldn’t make it because of variety of reasons and said something like “I really wish I could go but…”.
I have spent my days mainly looking after my parents for several years. However, I am now determined to make strenuous efforts to be an excellent calligrapher, with encouragements from many people in mind.
Last but not least, I offer my maximum thanks to the owners of the gallery and the people working in the paperer.

Yesterday was the second day of the exhibition. Lots of people of many different connections with my mother and me visited the venue. Some of the unexpected visitors gave me pleasant surprises.
I hope many more people will come to the gallery today and enjoy the exhibition just as so many people did for the last two days. Today is the last day of this exhibition.

Day 1 has finally come and the venue was filled with plenty of flowers and sweets. What made me happy above all was I got to meet and talk with many people who I haven’t had a chance to meet for long.

The mother daughter exhibition starts today, so we prepared for it yesterday. Or rather, I should put it that kind people around me helped me prepare for it. I hope many people will come and see the exhibition. The photos show how the venue looked yesterday.
