These are images from a solo exhibition I held before, but I discarded most of the works shown here.  When I mentioned this to a friend who wrote novels in her youth, she protested, “Don’t you dare throw them away!  They’re too precious!  After moving several times, all those novels I worked so hard on are now gone.”  Keeping my old pieces, however, doesn’t seem to make much sense to me.  So, I think I will continue discarding them.

I haven’t discarded the works my teacher who was a renowned calligrapher gave me.  I expect I will eventually return these to his family.

以前開いた個展からの画像ですが、ここに写っている作品の多くは捨ててしまいました。若い頃に小説を書いていた友人にこれを言うと、「もったいないから絶対捨てないで！　私は、何度か引越しをしているうちに、あんなに一生懸命に書いた小説が今ではなくなってしまっている」と言われましたが、残しておいても仕方がない気がしますので、多分これからも捨てていくのだと思います。

高名な書家であった師からいただいたお作品は捨てていません。これらは、いずれご家族にお返しすると思います。
