Today marks the first day of the month of May and the season of the tender green finally began.  This is my piece of a part from a poem on verdancy by, believe it or not, 武田信玄or Takeda Shingen who is believed to be the fiercest worrier in the age of provincial wars in Japan.

Apparently, it means “Spring left and the summer season has come around the fresh foliage.  I lingered in the deep green, not wanting to go”.

5月になりいよいよ新緑の季節です。そこで新緑をテーマにした、なんと戦国最強の武将と言われた武田信玄の詩の一節です。

「春が去り、夏が来たのは新緑の樹のあたり。緑陰の深いところに身を寄せていると、去るに忍びず、ぐずぐずとどまってしまう」といった意味らしいです。
