Old practice on the midwinter night

Today falls on the Winter Solstice.

It is a long tradition in Japan to enjoy a hot bath with a kind of citrus fruits in the bathtub on the night of the midwinter. The refreshing smell and the nice feeling of the water help you to relax.

I read a comment in a post on the Instagram that this custom also shows the Japanese people’s love of taking a bath.

I love taking calligraphy lessons!

The first line:  Good fortune, worldly happiness, including economic aspect and a happiness of longevity.

And the second line expresses a destination for the year 2019, which is, life full of smile and laughter.

I love taking calligraphy lessons!

The task for today’s practice session was a calendar for the year 2019.

As you can see, the last stroke of the letter 『DREAM 夢』is still missing.

I am going to ask my mother to finish the letter when we practice together next time.

Inspiration from a good, old friend

I wrote this one, being inspired by a good, old friend who contacted me for the first time in a long time.

It is such a fun to write something getting inspiration from and thinking about someone really precious!

And I would like to see her soon!

Different class

These are “LOVE’s” by my teacher and myself.  There is a distance beyond belief.

Incidentally, my teacher employed the cursive style, which explains the difference in forms.
