In response to my request for a favorite character or word, a friend of mine suggested “challenge”.  However, it is not necessarily his number-one favorite.  Apparently, he has a great goal that he must challenge and achieve this year.

お好きな字や言葉を教えてくださいとのお願いに、「挑む」を挙げてくれた方がいました。けれども、必ずしもそれは彼のお気に入りの字ではないようです。ただ、今年は挑戦して勝ち取らなければならない大きな目標があるらしいです。
