12.17 Daytime moon

Cherry leaves that had turned red (or brown) have almost fallen. However, you can easily and clearly see new buds coming out.

Familiar view

The glittering surface of the Takano River that has been so familiar since my childhood strikes me as something very new when viewed with my mother in a wheel chair. In other words, it is a sequel of this.

Contemplation 観想

To contemplate profoundly focusing on one target.

As my mother is suffering mentally, she seems to have difficulty concentrating her mind on one thing.

Hello!

11.21

When my mother in a wheel chair and I take a walk, total strangers such as people walking by and people heartily working in their gardens often pleasantly call to us, “Hello!”. I wonder if my mother’s appearance makes people want to say, “hi!”.

Anyway, because of this new routine of ours, our neighbors think I am “a devoted daughter”, since we try to practice it every day and twice a day if possible.

My mother and I went up to the top of Mt. Hiei by taxi.  I often try to talk about her old days and things from her childhood days, as she has been mentally ill for months.  However, I am not certain it will be effective for her recovery.

Good for rehabilitation?

11.10

When I began practicing calligraphy at home for the first time for a long time, Mother looked interested herself. I urged her to practice with me hoping it will work for her rehabilitation, as she hasn’t been well both physically and mentally for months.

As today falls on the Respect for the Aged Day in Japan, my mother joined and enjoyed a party organized by her nursing care home with other aged people at a sushi restaurant.
