The other day, I sent a number of postcards with my calligraphy, “friendship” on them to my very good friend, a very devoted teacher in Poland.  I asked her to use the postcards as gifts for the season and show them something foreign to them.  For, I thought, seeing the cards, some of them would develop interests in Japan and Japanese style calligraphy.  Now, I am very glad to see those cards reached her and her students look pleased with them.

先日とても良い友人に「友情」を書いたハガキ作品を何枚かまとめて送りました。この方はポーランドで、それは熱心な先生をしておられますので、このハガキを子供たちへの贈り物として使って、彼らには異質の外国のものを見せてあげてほしいとお願いしました。中には日本や日本の書道に興味を持つ子も出て来るかもしれないと思ったからです。送ったハガキはちゃんと受け取ってもらい、また子供たちが気に入ってくれたようなので、とても嬉しく思っています。
