This is the last half of the children’s song about Tanabata, or the Star Festival. I wrote it because today falls on July 7th according to the old calendar. It refers to thin strips of paper of five colors, used as ornaments for the Festival on bamboo trees: green (blue), red (scarlet), yellow, white, and black. These five colors originate from the ancient Chinese theory of Yin-Yang and the five elements. It has been believed your wishes would come true if you wrote them on these strips of paper.
