A story has been passed down that goes the residents in the old capital of Japan got very excited at even a little amount of snowfall because the area has relatively little snowfall for the very low temperature in winter.  I don’t enjoy a gracious living like a person of noble birth, still, I get very happy when it snows.

その昔、京の都は気温が低くなる割には雪が少ないので、少しでも雪が舞うと都人たちは大喜びしたと伝えられています。私は優雅な生活をしている都人ではありませんが、少しの雪でも嬉しいです。
