This is the phrase for around five days starting today.  It roughly means cold wind waves away fallen leaves.  Actually, air is beginning to feel colder.

“North wind sweeps the leaves away”.  This is the seasonal phrase for this time of year. Surely, it has become cold suddenly today.  And the fallen leaves fluttering on the ground look cold.

「北風が葉を払う」今ぐらいの七十二候の名称です。確かに今日から急に寒くなった気がします。そして地面を舞う落ち葉は寒々しいものです。
