It has been some time since I began asking for your favorite character(s) or word(s). Now, I am going to introduce one of the letters I like, that is, 道 meaning way or course that one should follow in life. I think the letter also implies will or purposefulness. And the most important thing about this letter is it appears in my teacher’s name, which is not his real name, but his name as a calligrapher. In other words, he himself chose the letter.

お好きな字や言葉を教えてくださいとお願いしてかなりになりますが、この辺りで私の好きな字を書きます。「道」には「意志」が感じられますし、私の先生のお名前に使われています・・・というより、雅号ですから、先生自らが選ばれた字だと思うのです。
