〜For the collection 3 ハガキと団扇 3〜

This is for the postcard collection that starts tomorrow.  “Poetry Poem.”  My favorite character and word.  However, I am a little worried some people may not be familiar with the left side of the letter written in cursive style.

.

明日から始まるポストカードコレクションのための作品です。「詩」。好きな字、好きな言葉です。けれども、草書体の言偏に馴染みのない人がいるかも知れません。

〜Venue of the event today 準備着々と〜

I went to the venue of the postcard collection that I have written about a couple of times to carry in my postcard pieces and the fans to be displayed there.  I now really love this event and I am very grateful to the person who let me know about it.  This event starts on Saturday, June 19.

.

先日来書いているポストカードコレクション会場にポストカード作品と団扇の搬入に行って来ました。この催しが本当に大好きです。教えてくださった方に感謝しています。開始されるのは6月19日土曜日です。

〜Seasonal phrase 梅子黄〜

The seasonal phrase for around five days from today is this, “fruits of the Japanese plum ripen to be yellowish”.  The phrase reminded me of my late mother who detested sour flavor but was really good at making beautiful red-colored umeboshi, pickled Japanese plums.

.

今日から5日間ほどの間の七十二候の名称がこれです。梅の実が熟して黄色っぽくなるということらしいです。自分は酸っぱい味が大嫌いだったのに、実に美しい赤い色の梅干しを漬けるのが得意だった母を思い出します。

〜For the collection 2 ハガキと団扇 2〜

This is another set of my works for the postcard collection that I wrote the other day.  “Beautiful figure of the light.”  This phrase caught my attention when I was listening to a live online distribution.  I thought it was a sweet expression.

.

これも先日書いたポストカードコレクションのための作品です。「美しい光の姿」。この言葉はある方のオンラインによるライブ配信を聞いていたときに私の注意を引いたものです。綺麗な言い回しだと思いました。

〜For the collection 1 ハガキと団扇 1

This is one of my works for the postcard collection that I have the honor to participate in for the third time.  Literally, it is “wave motion”.  In the so-called spiritual society, they often give this Japanese word to “energy”.

.

これで3回目の出展をさせていただくポストカードコレクション用の作品です。波動。いわゆるスピリチュアル系の人たちは「エネルギー」をこの日本語に訳します。

〜Seasonal phrase 腐草為蛍〜

The seasonal phrase for this time of the year is this.  It literally means “decayed grass becomes fireflies”, which is “fireflies appear from the decayed grass”.

.

この時期の七十二候の名称です。枯れたる草 蛍と為る。枯れた草から蛍が生じるということらしいです。

〜Same old resolution 重く、深く〜

From time to time, I come across calligraphic works that are seemingly good and clever, but in fact, just awfully flimsy and cheap.  In those cases, I always renew my resolution to try hard to create calligraphic works of profound touch.

.

形は整っているようで、というか、気の利いた字姿をしているけれど、薄っぺらな印象の字をときに見かけます。その度に、私は頑張らねばと決意を新たにするのです。

〜Seasonal phrase 好きではなくて〜

This is the seasonal phrase for this time of the year.  “Montes come into the world.”  I don’t care much for this kind of insects.  However, I guess this must be the most representative example for this season.

.

この時期の七十二候の名称がこれです。「蟷螂生」私はあまり好きではありません。でもこの季節を象徴するものの代表なのでしょう。

〜Starting over again 別の古いお手本〜

I again began practicing by the book of models my teacher gave me decades ago.  When I upload photos of my calligraphy like I do here, at times someone tells me “Oh, you write various kinds of letters.”  However, my teacher taught big letters and small letters in various styles quite naturally, so I had always believed people do like this in all calligraphy schools.  It was after I got all grown up that I came to know that in some schools only writing big letters is taught and in others, they only practice small letters.
.
昔いただいた折手本を出してきてのお稽古の2冊目です。こうやって画像をあげていると、ときとして「いろんな字を書きますね」と言ってもらうことがあるのですが、先生は漢字も仮名も、取り立てて何ということもなく教えてくださっていたので、私はずっとお習字教室というのはそういうものだと思っていました。漢字だけの会や仮名だけの会があるのだと知ったのは、すっかり大人になってからのことです。

〜Calligraphy copying 学ぶこと〜

I found and chose this one for copying practice from a collection book of my teacher’s works.  “There is no boundary to stop in learning.”  Yes, I do understand that, I think.

.

臨書のために、先生の作品集を見ていてこれを選びました。「学びには止まるべき境界線はない」と。それは理解しているつもりですけれど。
